Afternoon Slump Chocolate Milk
When the afternoon slump hits, there are approximately 5 things one can do: 1) Coffee is one. But coffee is a risk. You don't want to invite the jitters and you definitely can't be counting sheep later. 2) There's sugar. Sugar definitely works, but then it doesn't. Sure that snickers is a vending machine away, but we've ALL had vending machine remorse....it's a thing. 3) How about movin' around a little...getting the blood to flow? Yeah, ok. That sounds exhausting. 4) Facepalm/drooling on oneself is an option. 5) Or there's this:
This is my I've been up since the wee hours-tiny yogurt for breakfast-that salad isn't getting me through 3 o'clock- liquid rock. It's my bread and butter of many, many afternoons- ones when I'm drained to my knees and some serious recharging needs to happen pronto. This will save you.
We know that chocolate isn't an indulgence, it's a necessity (and the star of this dish). Let's call it Meryl Streep. Dates and maple awaken us, in a nice way. Snickers aren't nice. So let's call them Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin. The banana...it gives this body. It also adds to the sweetness. John Krasinski. Oh and almond milk, that's the canvas. I've actually been making it from scratch. It's not complicated.
I may be watching one of my favorite movies while typing. Sorry about *this.*
Everything goes in the blender, crushed ice is added.
Then you pour.
You watch it bubble and foam and you already are getting over the lull. Sip and smile!
Aaaaaand now back to work.
