I have a lot I'd like to say about my last fifteen days of absence, but much of which are updates on mundane life tasks that would induce blog-reading narcolepsy.
Lots of work, more than usual. Dreaded tax prep, again. I was away in NYC a couple of weekends ago, and am off to San Francisco this weekend...some business, mostly fun. Honestly, I'm in one of those life phases that just seems to blur the dawns and dusks. But all is good. Hard to believe I've had this blog for two years already as well. Yay!
To celebrate, I decided to do it in season and in style. Booze, of course:
If there's one thing I can recommend for this cocktail, it's to not serve any to your mom. She will proceed to tell you three times how "sO gOoD" this drink is and then practically boss you into scheduling a near-future night to reproduce it. Then she will watch Parenthood and cry louder-than-average grapefruit tears.
INGREDIENTS: makes 1 serving
- 10 mint leaves + a couple sprigs to garnish
- 1 tablespoon honey
- 3 tablespoons rum (1 1/2 fl. ounces)
- 8 tablespoons grapefruit juice (4 fl. ounces)
- 4 tablespoons tonic water (2 fl. ounces)
- 3 large ice cubes (I used 3 actual 1 1/2" shaped cubes)
In your glass, muddle the mint leaves with the honey. Use the handle of a wooden spoon if you don't have a muddler. When all smashed, add the rum and grapefruit juice. Mix. Then add the tonic water, ice cubes and mix some more. Garnish with mint sprigs.
